We have launched 'Qvecin Inj.', a long-acting injectable antibiotic for companion animals. Qvecin is a prescription veterinary medicinal product containing cefovecin sodium (80 mg/mL) as its active ingredient, and is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that can be used to treat bacterial skin infections and urinary tract infections in dogs and cats.
Its most notable feature is that a single subcutaneous injection provides therapeutic effects for up to 14 days. It reduces the burden of repeated drug administration for both pets and their owners, improves treatment compliance, and enables veterinary clinics to establish more efficient treatment plans.
In particular, Qvecin Inj. has been approved as a First Generic (under U.S. FDA standards), having undergone the FDA’s stringent evaluations of quality, safety, and efficacy for both the raw material and the finished product. This is significant in that it is a long-acting antibiotic that meets international quality standards. Based on its rapid absorption characteristics, it reaches effective blood concentration within approximately 30 minutes after administration, and it has been designed with safety in mind even for repeated dosing. After reconstitution (dissolution), it can be used for up to 28 days when stored under refrigeration, thereby enhancing convenience for use in veterinary clinics.
Qvecin Inj. not only provides effective treatment but also reduces the burden on both pet owners and animals, and we plan to continue supplying differentiated veterinary medicinal products that meet the needs of clinical practice. |
